When speaking with competent individuals, I frequently hear sentiments such as “I feel stuck,” which is a common feeling among many. They might be caught in a past relationship that has turned sour, yet they find it challenging to extricate themselves from it. Many people desire to launch their own businesses, but many are unsure of how to accomplish so. Another situation is when they desire to enhance their quality of life but are uncertain about the steps to take.
Many of us have experienced the sensation of being trapped. Although our lives may seem to be constantly in motion, much of that movement does not seem to push us forward. We are like a snag in a river, where the water rushes past but we remain still. Why do we often forget how to live in the present moment? What is it about our lifestyles that makes us feel “stuck”?
These questions are likely to elicit a variety of responses. In this article, I will outline five examples of behaviors that, in my view, obstruct us from living the lives we truly desire.
The Truth as You See It
99% of what most people believe is agreed upon by 60,000 thoughts per afternoon. Our thoughts are significantly shaped by our upbringing and environment. Based on our observations, our minds develop unique and profound understandings of the world. It’s important to consider our thoughts as reflections of reality, as they play a vital role in our understanding of the world and our existence.
However, this can lead to issues as we continue to cling to beliefs that no longer serve us. Think about how many people see themselves as lacking in sports, art, or math skills. It’s probable that most students faced difficulties in at least one of these areas during their early education.
What beliefs are you still holding onto that might be limiting your life? Which of the following do you believe is impossible? What aspects of the current situation do you think should not exist? Someone might be very unhappy if you decided to go with your heart. It might be beneficial to scrutinize your worldview and identify the beliefs that are influencing your life.
Making Excuses for Our Situation
How frequently do you hear statements like, “My boss is so unreasonable. No wonder I’m struggling with my work,” or “It’s not my fault. That decision wasn’t mine!”

Another approach is to step up to the plate and take a swing at that curveball. Recognize that you are the only one capable of taking control of the situation. What would it take to hit that ball? Setting up a game plan that includes a goal, a strong determination, and plenty of practice would be a good starting point. Initially, you might not connect with the first few pitches. However, as time goes on, you’ll improve your timing and swing, and you’ll start hitting those balls hard. You’ll begin to realize that the more you incorporate into your life, the less trapped you might feel.

Most people were brought up to believe that hard effort was the key to success. In recent times, there has been a shift in this perspective to emphasize the value of challenging work and long hours. The adage “All work and no play makes Jack/Jill a dull boy/girl” comes to mind when considering this notion.
To keep our lives moving, we need to incorporate laughter, joy, and creativity into our paintings. We require it so that we can experience and reenergize ourselves without feeling guilty or irresponsible. It is during these times of relaxation and laughter that our minds are free to dream and believe. This is when we often propose solutions to our problems, new approaches to handling life’s challenges, and new methods to enhance and uplift ourselves.
The Middle Way of Life
One of the simplest ways to prevent our life from slipping away is to live from the center rather than the periphery. The most effective method to remain entirely within your comfort zone is to live from the heart. It involved adhering to a rigid routine, shunning change, and eliminating all spontaneity. While it may not sound exciting, many people opt to live this way. As a result, the center becomes a very crowded place where getting stuck is quite easy.
You’ll discover that life offers much more room to maneuver if you motivate yourself to take small, regular steps in that direction. Additionally, the edge isn’t as daunting as you might imagine. As you tackle new challenges, new perspectives will emerge, and you’ll begin to see more opportunities and possibilities. You’ll encounter individuals who are willing to support your journey and who are also stepping outside their comfort zones. As your life begins to open up and flow, you’ll wonder how you ever managed to live in the middle.
Accusing Oneself of Fear of the Unknown
Fear is a potent emotion. It serves to protect us from dangerous activities, yet it can also prevent us from achieving innovative and remarkable feats. When faced with uncertainty, many individuals begin to feel apprehensive. However, at times, it necessitates taking a leap of faith and having a firm belief that fear is often just an acronym for “False Evidence Appearing Real.”
Have you ever fantasized about starting your own business, developing your skills as a sculptor, or exploring the world? You need to confront your anxieties head-on and put your trust in yourself and your desire if you want to remove any obstacles in the way of achieving those goals. You’re going to succeed, right? Possibly, both yes and no. You have, at the very least, created the possibility for your dream to come true. However, if you allow yourself to be paralyzed by fear of the potential negative outcomes and refuse to open that door, your dream will never have a chance to materialize. Instead, you will always wonder what could have been and will be unable to move past that regret.

Ultimately, obstacles are an inevitable part of our lives, much like rocks in a river. No, it doesn’t matter if we are found. How to escape the stagnant circumstance and return to normalcy in our life is the issue. Increasing our awareness of the recurring behaviors that trap us is a terrific place to start that process.
