As I transitioned into my twenties and approached adulthood, I noticed a pattern of comparing my life to those around me, particularly my friends. It seemed like they had more opportunities and brighter futures ahead, while I felt stuck in a perpetual struggle, lacking the same level of enthusiasm and potential.

I struggled with discontentment and often fell into a cycle of self-pity, feeling unhappy with the circumstances I was dealing with. Various lifestyle issues, such as having a higher weight, having a speech disability, and being taller than the average woman, significantly impacted my self-confidence and self-esteem, contributing to periods of depression.

I found myself ensnared in a persistent state of depression that seemed insurmountable. The challenges of job hunting, socializing, and managing a speech impairment took a toll on my well-being, draining my energy and affecting my outlook on life. These challenges made it hard to stay positive and motivated to overcome my circumstances.

At 22, I resolved to change my life completely, as I could no longer endure the persistent despair. It became clear to me that I needed to let go, develop a clearer mindset, and adopt a more relaxed approach. I recognized the necessity for a completely different strategy and a shift in my way of thinking.

Despite the challenges I encountered, I realized the importance of changing my life. By diving into self-help and anti-depression literature, I gained valuable insights. The transient quality of life reminds me to seize each day as if it were my last.

I shifted my perspective by comparing my life to those I read about or saw on TV, rather than to my friends. Learning about the hardships in third-world countries and the tragedies that occur reminded me of my blessings. Watching the news when I feel down gives me a broader perspective, helping me overcome temporary moments of despair.
