Maintain an Optimistic Outlook For a Happy Life
In my experience, I’ve come across quite a few unpleasant individuals. They seem to complain about everything and carry the weight of the world on their shoulders wherever they go. When I reached the age of twenty-eight, I made a conscious decision to change my way of living. Up to that point, I had been just like them.
Over the first 28 years, I always felt sorry for myself. In contrast to them, every one of my friends seemed to have far more than I did, and my life became a grueling, protracted struggle. I became entangled in a negative web and needed help to get out from under it from someone or anything.
One day, while I was in my twenties, I started running with a coworker during our break at work. During our conversation, he said something that initially surprised me, but it would go on to shape my future significantly. He told me, “
“You are a true depressive person, aren’t you, someone who constantly thinks negatively?
“Am I?”
I expressed surprise in my voice because I didn’t believe anyone else saw me as exceptional. He continued.
“You truly are. You seldom smile, you often view situations negatively, and you frequently give off the impression that you’re burdened with the weight of the world.”
When he reached around thirty years old, he went on:
“It’s been quite some time since I could honestly say that. Whenever you’re feeling down, depressed, or sorry for yourself, try reading or watching the news. You’ll soon realize just how fortunate you truly are.”
I gave what he had stated a lot of thought. I never watched or read the news much, but I made the decision to give it a try. The advice he gave me, whether it was based on global or U.S. intelligence, was completely accurate. It was quite transformative. I realized that my worries were actually quite trivial and that I needed to embrace life fully, focusing on its challenges.
